I have my car in the mechanics getting a new clutch kit put in they have told me that there is a spring missing that holds the thrust bearing in place.
I removed the conversion myself and was sure i got all the parts, just wanted to know if anyone knows if and where i can get a spring from, im imagining i would be able to but am thinking that this would be a genuine part.
Which gearbox have you got?
If it's a T5 they'd be talking about the retaining clip that holds the throwout fork to the pivot ball. The bad news is that you can't get these through holden anymore. Luckily Mal Wood Automotive have started making them themselves, I don't know of anyone else making these so I'd say they'd be about your only option. I wouldn't bother trying at the wreckers as they only want to sell the manual parts as a complete kit.
I got T5 just heard news back the mechanics have spoken to holden and they say that it will still work without it what do you think, where about is mal wood automotive i give them a call anyway and get one.
Without it, there'd be nothing to hold the clutch fork in place, so they must planning on fabbing something up. Personally I'd just get one from Mal Wood($12) , they're in warick queensland but will post oz wide. It's not worth the risk of the clutch fork coming loose when you're driving around, could be pretty nasty!
