t5 gearbox rear seal removal

just wondering how do you get the rear seal out of the t5 gearbox? ive pulled the tailshaft out but cant get the seal to come out. it looks like it has a metal plate covering half the rubber seal do i have to remove that?

sounds like your talking about the seal itself it has a metal outer section moulded to the seal if u look at your new 1 it should be similler. pretty much u have to wreck the seal to get it out use a hooked seal puller/a flat bladed screwdriver or a slide hammer
