clutch/brake pedal plate craked!?
since the plate is cracked could it make it harder for the clutch to engage properly n make it harder to change gears?

If you mean where the cable goes thru the bulkhead or the pedal box allowing the outer cable to move, then the answer is yes. I'd fix it pronto before it stuffs the gearbox.
