Doing the backs is easy, took me about 15 mins on a mates car with live axle seadan. Could be different with ute.

First, undo the bottom shock mounts on both sides.
Jack car up on jack points. Take your wheels off.
Put weight on one side of axle, (I put my foot on hub)
Get someone to take spring out, and replace with new one if you are both quick enough.
    Repeat for other side.
    Redo shock mount bolts

This may not be how everyone else does it but it works for me, just don't let the car fall off the jack...

Nowadays I just use my hoist, but i'm guessing you wouldn't have access to one.

    Good luck
    Ben

You don't, thats why you put weight on one side of the axle, they will free up and be able to be pulled out.

o i get you know, this is what my plan was,

jack the car up on the rear till the wheels are just about to come off the ground,
    unblot the shocks,
jack it up abit more and pull springs out, put new ones in and lower it abit and put new shocks in.
    fit new parnhead rod

    how does that sound?

Sounds good to me...Pretty much as long as you get the springs out, you will have no problems.
