hey all..I have a 1995 vs commodore v6, n just asking where abouts the fuel pump is located?? cheers.
hello, its usually inside the fuel tank, unless you have a long range tank (80 litres) then you would have 2 fuel pumps, one internal and one external.
Ive heard replacing it can be a shit job (as i havn't done it myself before),
just asking is it on top of the tank where I have to drop the tank or is it at the front of the tank??
its at the front of the tank
At the front of the fuel tank is an inspection panel round, and about 100mm in diameter also make sure you remove the fuel gauge wire which is in the same location . try to do it on an empty tank.
If your VS is IRS it's easy enough to do the job with the tank still in the car. If it's live axle I have found there's a bit less room to work, so you might be better off dropping the tank especially if it's full. Changing the pump is very straightforward once you have the tank out of the car. Just did my VN one out of the car, installed a high pressure Walbro, and I have my VR's dead pump to change today as well, will be a tank out job as it's very full.

Check out the pics in this link.It shows where the fuel pump and its assembly is located etc in the fuel tank on a sedan. It will give you an idea of where to look. ---Fuel Tank,Fuel Pump Assembly and Swirl Pot.---
If it's a solid rear axle you can leave the tank in the car to remove the fuel pump, you just jack the car up and support the body on stands and let the rear axle drop down.
the only one you need to take the tank out if it is a ute...
Wagon/sedan live axle or IRS can all be done in the car, if your tank is full drain some fuel out of it before you start, in the drivers side rear wheel arch there is a inspection cover remove this then you will see the filler pipe where it joints the tank, undo the clamp and siphon some fuel out with a hose and jerry can
when you remove the pump just watch the return line, you will have troubles if you brake it or drop it in to the tank with out it attached to the pump.
Yea I just usually tell first timers to take the tank out because they usually find it easier
I will usually drop the tank to do a pump if I can be bothered.. longer job but **usually** less stuffing around
