as it says above around town the engine light doesnt come on( ive cheacked for error codes got: Code 68 - Transmission Component Slipping - Auto Transmission Only )
its had a recent tranny service and i know the trasmission is slipping,
its a standard vr acclaim and reves around 2100-2500rpms when travelling at 100klms on a flat rd hence why i think th tranny is on its last legs, it has 375,000 on clock
i am soon to start towing a trailer so i am worried
my question is:
u rekon the tranny is stuffed?
could it be somthing else.??
i can prob get a box from a wreckers and i am fairly handy with the tools, are they easy to install?
can i do it on my own or will i need assistance????
1 thing i have never done is changed a tranny b4 on any car
any suggestions appreciated, or if u hvae a box for a 93 vr v6, contact me
thakns
check ur bends u could b usin the wrong transmission flowd or u mit need to replas the hole thing that all i know soz if dusnt help
Loven mi new VR commodore lowed with body kit
Had a car that did that, then the top gear stopped completely, 80kms max speed, then lost reverse, and first and second were slipping unless very gentle. I wouldn't tow at the moment, it could be possible but as soon as you hit a hill, good luck getting up it.
If you floor it does it slip between gears? The fluid could be low for some reason, or too high?
I believe rear wheel drive gearboxes are easier to install than front wheel drives. Done the front wheel drive gearboxes way to many times (they don't tend to last too long), pain in the arse, and back, and neck.
I guess it could be done on your own with a few trolley jacks, just keep in mind it is 70 to 80 odd kg. The front wheel drives are only around 30 to 40, but they still kill you by yourself.
on take off no slip, plenty of torque= wheels spins etc etc, just cruising is when it slips. seams to over rev,
its stock and rpms at 100 are 2100-2500, is this normal. i thought it was a little high.
overall if i replace is it a easy job? iknow there heavy
will a vp or even a vs tranny fit my s1 vr?
i think vp wont work because they are not electronic? and vs has a diffrent extension housing? someone correct me if im wrong
Wasnts there different boxs from s1 to s2 vr. I could be wrong but sure im in the right place to find out
yes there are different transmissions, theres a code on top on the bell housing behind engine u will need to match the codes up
get the code check out first, it could be a bung solenoid not clamping hard enough on the bands or the trans could be too far gorn. solenoid job is 99.99% easer than trans replacement
