    Default VR cut's out @ 4500rpm

Ok yes I have searched but am after a bit of clarification. So finally got my Coolant Temperature Sensor problem fixed (auto electrician advised one of the wires in the connector was broken). So all good with that. How ever now car is cutting out @ 4 500rpm. Went back to auto leccy who said the CAS had some how now picked up a fault.

Got a brand new genuine CAS from Holden and no change car still cut's out. Auto leccy has said that the computer fault codes need to be cleared with a scan tool which of course is going to cost me more. I have had the negative terminal off for a few hours and have reconnected it. Drove the car normally for a little while and after I had turned it off and back on I decided to test it again. Same deal. Is the auto leccy trying to rip me off or is he right? The weirdest part is when it cuts out the speedo and tacho drop as well as the warning lights coming on briefly.

Can any one help me please I am at my wit's end with this car.

Well that's what I thought, I did do the error codes trick with a paper clip and all I got 14 times in a row was 12. Which is further making me go WTF. Auto leccy refuses to fix the problem unless I pay them more money which I think is BS because they made me pay $140 to rewire a stupid connector.

Disconnecting the battery will clear any set error codes. If all you are getting is code 12 from the self test, then there is no error codes logged anyway.Id be taking it elsewhere,$140 for a new temp sensor connector is a complete rip off.

if everything just drops out when it cuts out there will be other issues, if the engine cuts out it shoud leave the dash lights on etc.

Thank's for the help guys. Yeah apparently the place wanted to diagnose the fault first. So yeah $99 for labour and $40 for scan tool. Even after I said it is definitely the connector replace it and see what happens. It was most definitely not doing it before it went there so do I have a leg to stand on in getting it fixed. They reckon obviously that it isn't there fault etc.

Major fail. Auto leccy knocked the main earth wire under alternator. Took it to a mechanic who noticed it straight away. Tightened up the nut and problem has now gone. Shows how bad the auto leccy was if it took a mechanic 5 seconds to figure it out.
