Default Level 3 Dash into Vs Ute?

    Hey everyone.
just looking for a bit of help on this situation.
keen on buying a level 3 dash for my 99' S-Pac Ute.
I have the old style dash that is slowly falling to pieces.
My temperature needle fell off the other day and is now free flying around the inside of the dash and every now and then my speedo needle gets stuck and tells me i am doing 60 when i am really stationary. a quick flick solves this...
so just wondering if a newer dash will fit?
this is the one i am keen on:

that is a huge thread of many questions.
i'll read through it properly when i have some more time.
but skimming over seems like it will fit, just need to buy a part if i want the trip computer to work.

Get the plugs from a L3 loom and graft them into your loom. It's 7 wires to the dash loom and 6 wires to the switch block and 1 wire to the engine harness loom.

Takes about 2 hours to convert for the first timer.

Or get one of these... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....STRK:MESELX:IT

Tim005, did you end up getting a L3 dash? I'm looknig at putting one in my V6 VS ute and wondering if you had any issues (like, does a layer 3 dash have the power button like on the ute, and do you have a handbreak near the drivers side which would fit up to a level 3 dash, and did you buy the climate control as well etc)
    Cheers

That trippin thread has all the info there...you just gotta put it all together, all up not a hard job, just takes a bit to get started. You need to source the extra plugs to start with off a lvl3 wreck and patch those bits into your exec loom + the extra wire to over the passenger side.

Yeah, but that just covers a L3 cluster. Does that apply for the whole dash? I want to swap dash pad/face as well which has buttons in different places as well as the head unit area, so I could still use the L2 loom but grapht the L3 connector?

I can post up some pics of my convertion later today...
I own a VS SII Exec and I was able to score a lvl 3 cluster, trip computer, and wiring harness for less than $20 at the ABC auto wreckers in Oxley Brisbane...
I am replacing some bulbs in the cluster so i will take some pics of the wiring I had done, and what is required to get this mod completed...
Seriously it's no where near as hard as that tripin thread makes it seem to be... and there is a lot less involved
