Default how is cruise control behavior controlled?

just wondering because u know sometimes you can have it set at 60 then turn it on after coming out of a 40 zone and it will throw you back in your seat , other times it accellerates like a granny.

i dont know how exactly but what i've found is depending on the current speed and revs whether it kicks down a gear or just accelerates using the current gear, and how close ur speed is already to cruise's set speed.

    i hope that makes sense

Its set by the accelerator cable. The 'throws you in the seat'/'granny' effect is just dependant on the gear the car is in at the time.

I know what you mean. When I have my cruise set at 50km and push set accel it revs up straight away. Shoots straight up to 2600rpm. Scared me the first time I did it lol.

It also depends on the load on the engine which directly relates to the slope of road you are on. EG if going up a hill at 40 and cruise is set at 60, when you engage it, it will throw you back more than if you were on level ground.

If the cruise cable is not correctly adjusted it can cause this problem. There should little if any free play at idle.
