Ok so from my last car service i was told that i had a leak in my heater tap and that it would be advisable in the near future to replace it. Mechanic said to replace it would be $150-200.
Anyway bought one of ebay for $26. Ive been doing a bit searching around on how to replace it myself. It seem pretty straight forward Disconnect hoses, put the new tap in, tighten the clamps then bleed out the air. Just wanting to make sure this is right or if there is anythging else i need to do so i dont break anything.
Thanks in advance
I just changed my heater tap 2 weeks ago. All together with hoses was $70. It's all straight forward just note down the way the hoses connect to the tap.
very easy to do and yes just note which hose is where and ur done.
note: if you only replace the heater tap and not hoses (like me) when u connect it back up and u find it dripping, just cut the end off the hose that has been moulded by the hose clamp and then reinsert and ur good.
.....and flush the coolant while the system is open.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
Just quickly when im bleeding i need to open up the bleeder screw yes?? where exactly is it?
the bleeder screw is a the top of the thermostat housing, which is where the top radiator hose runs to on the engine.
you need to take the engine cover off to get to it.
