Hi , need to know , on a vs commodore ignition key witch port of the key is possitive (the little lump i think ) and which is earth /negative ( i think it is the long bit that goes in the barrell), i reckon this is how the key battery gets charged , am i correct ? , ta,..........
FALSE, remote battery dose not get charged. alot of people are going to disagree with me here but the battery in the remote is only for the central locking, and the key reader acts on the little lump on the key head through the key stalk to earth, it runs through a series of rolling codes to obtain correct immobilizer operation.

The keys battery definitely does not get charged at all from the vehicle, but if you look at the circuit board out of one of these keys, the key reader circuit is connected to the battery circuit.I have 2 different keys that have gone flat over the years, the remote wouldnt work any more, but they would still start the car,Now 2 years later they wont even start the car any more.If the battery didnt have anything to do with the key reader, they both should still work, but they dont.Theres a lot of different opinions on how these keys actually work.
when u press unlock it disables the immobiliser for 30 seconds or so
sometimes the car wont start but i just press unlock on remote an then it stars (im guessing the ring thing on mine is a bit stuffed)
My spare key for my VS exec hasn't worked for ages. The electrics come on but the ignition doesn't. I tried itchy123's advice and it worked everytime. I pushed the unlock button on the key first then turned on the ignition and it started. Thanks itchy.
