Default Strengthening the IRS diff cradle

I'm going to install a new diff cradle soon as my current one is cracked, but I've heard of people welding on extra pieces of metal to make it stronger. Anyone got more details on this?

cant you weld the crack on yours?? If its a weak point on the cradle whats to say it wont crack in the same place on a new cradle? Get a nice big weld on it and it should be stronger than new

Thats the point of strengthening the new cradle. To weld metal to areas where its prone to cracking. No point trying to fix my current one

Well you could, would say that there is now a fair bit of fatigue on the load points which have taken up the slack though.

I am interested in this as i have IRS and i have heard that the cradels are prone to cracking, would like to take some preventitive maintenance also...
