Apparently it could be the gas, it backfired 5 mins before that happened and it started from the airfilter. But to many assumptions. Im just happy that its fixable.

Ahaha, yeh thanks, i dont have to change the engine which is a good thing, just all the rubber and plastics that got melted all need to be replaced, ohh and that gas tank is definitely comming out, straight petrol...and the premium stuff..mmmm.

at the very least i would be taking the engine out and changing all the gaskets etc... did the injectors melt? Would prob find it cheaper and easier just to get a 2nd hand engine with loom and swap it over.

I think the thing to learn about this is that if you EVER get smoke coming out of the bonnet of a car with LPG, turn the ignition off straight away! This usually kills the isolation valve for the LPG and hopefully, the flow of gas to make events like this have a rather short lifetime.

Yeh it is quite depressing isent it? The good news is that shes back, was up and running in july/august after 3 months of slowly bringing her back. Was cruising around with black and white panels ahaha. But now shes currently getting repainted to atlas grey, same colour as vn ss.

Well i had bought a donor car just for parts of the engine and wire loom plus the bumper, guards and bonnet, that only cost me $1000. We did all the work at home in shed and well that costed us nothing.

nice work. Impressive commitment to a car that otherwise might have ended up at a wreckers or somewhere worse
