Apparently it could be the gas, it backfired 5 mins before that happened and it started from the airfilter. But to many assumptions. Im just happy that its fixable.
Ahaha, yeh thanks, i dont have to change the engine which is a good thing, just all the rubber and plastics that got melted all need to be replaced, ohh and that gas tank is definitely comming out, straight petrol...and the premium stuff..mmmm.
yeh i know ahha, ive copped plenty of flak about my plates, my car is heavily drenched in irony my friend.
dosent look to good mate, gdluck with the fix and be sure to post some pics![]()
at first look i thought you didnt have an engine cover but on close inspection its there. Good luck with it all mate. Drop a 5L in there
yeh every thing is there, either burnt out or melted, im currently looking for a donor car to replace all the cables and plastics and shiz.
If it was mine I would scrap it.. sorry if this offends....
Yeh many people have told me to get rid of it, but id rather fix it up cause its fixable. Few mates, few beers, and hey presto !! ahah.
yeah i agree mate spend the time rebuilding a motor fix the panel and bonnet and hey presto like you said![]()
If the engine is fine after that then yea i agree just replace all the other cables etc etc clean up it all, i dunno what u would pay to get everything else but must be cheaper than a new engine..also the Irony of you number plates is gold..sorry had to say :P
ahhh dude that sucks, will definitely be a good experience building it back up though![]()
Well here is my ute, up and running after 3 months of rebuilding in the shed. Pictures show it getting a respray to atlas grey.
this makes me sad even looking at it.
such a good looking vs ute turned into a crumpet.
i hope the build goes well mate, get her back to hert former glory.
I think the thing to learn about this is that if you EVER get smoke coming out of the bonnet of a car with LPG, turn the ignition off straight away! This usually kills the isolation valve for the LPG and hopefully, the flow of gas to make events like this have a rather short lifetime.
Yeh it is quite depressing isent it? The good news is that shes back, was up and running in july/august after 3 months of slowly bringing her back. Was cruising around with black and white panels ahaha. But now shes currently getting repainted to atlas grey, same colour as vn ss.
$$$$ is it costing to fix?

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
A cut and polish should get those burn marks out of the paint fine.
Well i had bought a donor car just for parts of the engine and wire loom plus the bumper, guards and bonnet, that only cost me $1000. We did all the work at home in shed and well that costed us nothing.
nice work. Impressive commitment to a car that otherwise might have ended up at a wreckers or somewhere worse![]()
