Series2 v6 problems

A mate of mine has just bought a manual v6 VR ute it has all of the symptoms of a massive vacuum leak but without any hissing sounds and runs like it has dead cylinders very roughly but will start to smooth out a higher revs
I tried spraying WD around the motor to find any vacuum leaks without any success ,also all leads and plugs have been checked and we threw on a set of 6cylinder ford injectors which helped a bit ,another symptom is at times it will just flood and refuse to start even though it has spark

finally the motor is supposed to have been rebuilt at some stage with a cam so we are starting to wonder if it has a burnt valve or the timing hasn't been set correctly

ANy ideas?

ford injectors is fail pull them back out fit the stockers then check that the fuel pressure reg isnt leaking fuel out the vacuam hose
