    Default Possibly starter motor problem??

    Hello everyone, now and then when i start my car it makes a grinding/screech sound now my machanic said it is most likely my starter motor??? the sound comes from the right side of the motor around near behind the battery area?? any ideas?? thanks all

    sounds like the starter drive is dry, and coved in dust and crap. remove the started and give it a clean and lubrication and should be fine

    thanks moffman Were abouts is the starter motor located?? Its a 5lt VS by the way cheers

    passangers side, i just had to double check. the old 253's and 308's had them on the passangers side and these blocks are the same with the prefex 5.0L stamped insted of the 308. my vl 5.0 (when i had it) was on the passangers side.

    i found with my vl that when i cranked it over the spring in the ingnition didnt return the key back far enough so the ingnition was still ingaged after it started. all i do is turn the key back once it starts to where it needs to be without turning the car off. sounds like you could have the same problem. if that makes sence to you try it and let us know how you go.
