VS V8 auto differences? - full circle & not full circle bellhousing

Hello

I have a 96 model VS V8 in which I need to replace the auto (it went bang). I have come across a full circle bellhousing auto (same as a VT?) from a 98 model series 3 VS Statesman and would like to know if they are interchangable with the VS style auto?

I have done a search and can't seem to the find an answer. Any help would be appreciated.

main thing you need to look for is the numbers, there are diffrences between models of trans so the correct one should be fitted
