Got a vr v6 in my rodeo 89 model and need to get my tachometer working found the brown wire near passager side on the loom, just wondering if anyone knows if it will work????
Thanks
Using the Rodeo tach. with the VR signal? I think you will find that the signal frequency will be incompatible: 4 cyl. 4-stroke vs 6 cyl. waste spark system. i.e. I think the signal frequency will be 3 times too fast eg. 1000 rpm will read as 3000 rpm.
The people making kits for the V6 engine swaps should have an answer. Alternatively, the Jaycar speedometer corrector kit may work.
Something like this:
Frequency Divider Circuit
should work and will cost only a few dollars to put together on prototype board. DSE used to sell a 555 timer experimental kit that could be configured as that circuit.
Ok thanks if it's too much of a Hasle I might jst get a after market one
Oops. Thinking about it the 555 circuit I have linked to won't work because the frequency varies. There might be another 555 circuit that will work.
