First visually check that every vacuum hose is not split/missing or not pushed on firmly. Then get a 1 metre length of the neighbour's garden hose and put one end to your ear and run the other end along all vacuum hoses listening for a sucking noise.(keep clear of the fanbelt!) It makes it easier to remove the engine cover to check all the hoses. Vacuum sufficient to operate the vent direction mode dial should hold for quite some time - mine will last overnight. If you do have a bad leak a quick test is whether you can hear the vacuum operating the servos that change the flaps when you turn the mode dial - do this within a few seconds of switching the engine off.
Good Luck.
