I know this is a commodore forum but i figured that there would be plenty of fans out there of the old school cars aswell. I have here a set of multi stud 17 inch wheels that i have just taken off my VS Commodore, now the problem is i went to put them on the kingswood and they have the same stud pattern as the commodores but the wheel sits up against the upper control arm, i only tried to fit these onto the front wheels of the car. After a bit of research i have found out that you can buy these adapter plates to fit onto the discs that will allow you to fit the later model wheels that i have here. I have heard that these are illegal to run on cars but can't seem to find any decent wheels to fit on the car to make as sweet as what it should look like, has anyone got any suggestions or does anyone out there have any wheels 17inch + that will fit this car without attracting to much attention.
Another question i ask is if i buy these adapters off Ebay where i found them they ask me to tell them the OEM. I have no idea what they are actually asking for but if you check this link out hopefully someone out there will be able to let me know more about it Wheel Billet Adapter Plates - Torana to New Models - eBay Other, Wheels, Tyres, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. As i said in the first paragraph i have only tried to fit these wheels to the front of the car to my knowledge i don't see a problem with these wheels going on the rear end of the car, as it sits today, my main concern is the front as they scrub on the upper control arm, and just basically want to know is it worth buying these adapter plates or trying to find a nice set of wheels that will bolt straight on.
Any help will be great, thanks to all in advance.
I'm pretty sure they are not the same. They are very, very similar, but not the same. There's a greater risk you will be snapping studs if you put Commodore mags on.
See this page - Stud Patterns - Holdenpaedia
Also, post up a link to what you are trying to get us to see. If they're the spacers I'm thinking about I wouldn't touch them.
i have seen a set of lowerd stubs with the mounts for the commodore disks, this will allow the commodore rotor from a vh - vp to be used, and brake setup, or even better a v8/turbo disk form a vl (bigger) . this was on a ht ute with a rb30e running a vh rear diff.
the stud pattern is close but is about 2mm off, i tried using a commodore wheel on the front of my hq ute to move it but could only get 2 nuts on, plus it rubbed. if you dont want the lowerd stub there might be std hight stubs avable. its a direct replacement and the axil is the right size for the rotor.

this is the link of the adapters that i was referring to.
To me those adaptor plates would load the wheel bearing with some impressive bending forces.
I would suggest moff_man's solution. Changing the hubs/rotors to suit would be more likely to retain the original steering/suspension geometery.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
theres a local statesman round town thats got commodore rims on it, they ground out the control arms a bit. and its been getting wofs for a couple o years! until they sold it and the nu owner brought it to my dads garage for a wof...instant fail ha ha
