Hey fellas,
I've got a full version of efilive4 and have an ALDL diagnostic connector for my car. I've got a VS-II esteem V6 auto. All's bog-stock and factory. I'm using the connector with my laptop and efilive software. I'm getting all the real-time data but can't get the dashboard going in efilive4?
any ideas?
Cheers!
Thanks The1. I've downloaded the file and i'll give it a go sometime this morning and let you know how I went.
Cheers!
Hey The1,
I gave it a go and it didn't make too much difference. Although I logged the data and saved it while the car was running. Turned the car off and disconnected my cable. Saved and re-loaded my logged data and played it back. The dashboard was working then. Just can't understand why it won't work when the car's running and the connector is hooked up and the software loaded, but soon as you save the logged data and reload it it seems to show up. I would like to know if i can get the dashboard working in real-time, but if I can't I guess it's no great loss as I can now save the data and replay it.
Thanks again, mate
Regards!.
sounds weird, maybe reinstall efilive. You can change the dials and indicators by right clicking on them, other thing if your running it in either vista or windows 7 run the program in xp mode.
Thanks for the advice! I will try to run it in XP compatibility mode and see what happens there. Really want to get this going well, as I'm sure the old man would love to see it. Was telling him over the phone about the real-time diagnostics and how it could be used to find faults, as he hates anything/cars that are newer than basic carbie-fed models. lol. A real early holden nut from the beginning. lol.
yeh using it i find it better than when i used a tech1 as efilive has everthing there on the one screen and you log the lot and playback later which makes it easier to check absolutely everything to find faults or sensors not working within tolerance.
Once you have efilive and learn a bit about how all the sensors work it's a very easy car to work on and personally much simpler than a carby engine because of lack of adjustments which are now done by the ecu.
Hey The1,
I've changed the compatibility mode to windows XP, and guess what? It now run's the dashboard in real-time!. Thanks for the advice, mate. Been real handy. The next door neighbor was checking it out hooked up to my VS and said it was pretty amazing. He said he wished he has something like that for his magna and falcon, as they're breaking down on a regular basis and costing him a fortune to get repaired. I reckon when I take the 120K trip to the old man's house later on in the week, he'll be quite surprised.
Cheers!
Yeah, when I had my VN II sedan, he was enquiring about it. That's just before I sold that and my old VK wagon to get the VS. Liked the VN and Loved what I did with the VK "ran triple SU's", but the VS is by far, a better machine. I'll ask rob if he's after a good commodore, and if he is, i'll keep an eye out for him.
