Hey guys
Daughter has a 6 cyl VS (1996) Statesman with auto problems - happened tonight. Went to pull out of the servo (in reverse), heard a noise and it didnt sound good.
In netural, reverse and park it makes a weird noise and when in reverse, put your foot on the excelrator and it dosent move just revs. Goes in drive but it dosent want to change gears, however it revs and might change gears
thoughts? She broke - bad? Ideas of cost of second hand fitted in Adelaide?
Thanks![]()
Doesn't sound too great. May even likely be stuffed internally. If it was me, i'd check the fluid levels first and see where they sit at!
Also, do Statesmans come factory with V6 motors?
Cheers!
Do a codes check first as it may show solenoid problems: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
however, it doesn't really sound too good...very similar to mine when the sunshell sheared which is very common at around 200,000km. If it is the sunshell gone, the box will seize up very soon (as in a few km) and then it's a full overhaul ($2000) or a second hand one (~$400 + fitting). Good Luck.

Get a tranny service, it may be something simple but it's unlikely as it was accompanied by a "noise" which is never good.![]()
