Hi guys,
Im having trouble removing mr rear disc rotors, Ive disconnected the handbrake cable aswell
Its IRS rear
I will state the obvious....you have removed the calipers?
Sometimes the handbrake shoes will wear a groove in the drum and catch as you try to remove the rotor. Back the adjuster off a bit then the rotor will come straight off. (The adjuster through the hole in the rotor).
The rotors just pull off - but most likely they will have rusted onto the hub. Try applying RP7/CRC to the junction between the hub and the rotor, then with a hammer, gently tap the rotor in a downward action while at the same time rotating the rotor to hit it in a different spot. After awhile pull on each side of the rotor in a back and forward action to break the line of rust. Keep applying the RP7. This will eventually enable you to get a rocking action going until the rotor will eventually come off. I found the back rotors came off easily. One of the front ones took nearly an hour.
Rear rotors very rarely rust to the hub. I have never had a set do that. The most common problem is getting hung up on the hand brake shoes.
