Ok, so I've stumbled across a T5 manual conversion. The guy says that the ECU is an auto ECU which has led me to believe that this might be a bitsa conversion kit. My question is, if the flywheel is off a 3800 (non ecotec), what will I need to do to make sure that it works as it's supposed to? Or will it not cause any issues?
Hey mate. It depends on which model the engine came out of. A series 1 vn has a six bolt crank one of a kind, where vn series 2 through to vr have adifferent flywheel. with an 8 bolt pattern to suit the crank.
A vsis different again although it has the same stud pattern (8 bolts closer together) it is balanced differently, i made the mistake of using one of these on my S2 VN and had major balance issues until i found a flywheel off a VR. VN S2, VP and VR are all the same. depending on your application you might need to look up some threads on info shared by other people who have been through this because i know there is a few on here most of them pretty helpful otherwise this website Marks 4wd Adaptors Home Page sells brand new flywheels designed to bolt straight to your auto flex plate which is the direction i went in the end and it cuts a lot of the bullshit.
hope that helps
Yeah, probably should have said that. It's an Ecotec. This conversion comes with another Ecotec too, so I'm under the assumption that they're bolted together at the moment.
What happened when you used that Ecotec flywheel on your VN? Major vibrations?
Thanks for that link to Mark's 4wd, they do a whole lot of conversion stuff. I think V6 Conversions do a flywheel like that.
