Any good compressor repair places on the gold coast
my vs 97 model compressor has a problem don't now if it can be fixed i thought it was seized the other day because the pulley was moving on the compressor and the deive belt was slipping so i have bypassed the compressor with a new belt now and i can move the the pully with my hand i wonder if the bearings may be stuffed.i went to get a quote for a replacement and they said $900 fitted can't really afford that at the monent.

You problem is most likely the clutch bearing gone, which is a reasonably simple repair job for any mechanic and not necessarily an aircon mechanic as it does not involve removal of the compressor or de-gassing the unit. The repair manual for your compressor clutch bearing is at ch8.0 of this workshop manual: http://www.sanden.com/images/SD_Service_Guide_Rev.2.pdf.
I would check elsewhere for a price on the repair...don't tell them the compressor is stuffed because they will just quote for a new one as it's easy money for them...tell them exactly what happened and that you think it may be the clutch bearing that has seized. Summer is still 5 months away.
