    Default FE2 Suspension question

Hi, my VR S has FE2 suspension standard and i have replaced my rear springs with superlows, im just wondering do FE2 cars have a shorter pan hard rod standard? cause i need to replace my shockies and if i put shorter shocks without shorter panhard itll push the diff to the side.

Common sense tells me it does have a shorter panhard but holden tells me FE2 shockies re the same as a standard car, just slightly lower springs.

FE2 doesnt lower the suspension enough, hence doesnt push the diff to one side enough to need a shorter pan hard rod.Just get an adjustable panhard rod so you can re-centre the diff once its been lowered more..

Pretty sure FE2 does have a shorter panhard rod. I put FE2 in my VR with stock panhard rod and it scrubbed, and sat far too low. So I put stock springs back in the rear.

My VS has a normal panhard rod fitted, and has FE2 springs and shocks fitted to front and rear.Theres no scrubbing and the diff still sits where it should.Theres definitely no problem with the ride height either. The FE2 sits about 2 inches lower than standard.Which is where it should sit.

superlows sit 40-60mm lower than stock according to king springs..

By the sounds of it i can put some shortened shocks in the rear and hopefully not have to replace my panhard. see how i go.

Shocks have nothing to do with ride height; that is wholly controlled by the springs. If you've lowered the car AT ALL and retained the factory panhard rod, the axle will have certainly moved off-centre. You'll need an adjustable panhard rod to rectify this misalignment; it'll also save your trailing arm bushes from premature death. A lot of the turkeys on these forums will only worry about an adjustable rod when a tyre scrubs. Don't be a turkey, do it now. Also, there isn't enough travel in the factory shocks when coupled with super low springs, so a shortened shock should be fitted at the same time. Do it right the first time.

i know you need an adjustable pan hard rod when lowering a car with live axle, reason im asking is because my car has FE2 standard, when i bought the car the previous owner chopped the rear springs and the car was riding maybe 2 inches from the ground, rear wheels were tucked inside the gaurds, at this time both wheels were spaced evenly from the inside of the gaurds and not scrubbing, i have since put super lows in it which is only 5cm or so lower than standard. im worried if i put shorter shocks in it may affect it, reason being in my old VS i had super lowed plus standard shocks and adjustable pan hard, my mate bought the same springs and panhard but had shortened shocks and his VS sat 2cm lower than mine, only thing differant in the 2 cars was the shocks, hence why im worried if i put shorter shocks it will lower it enough to make it scrub.
