Default Vr commodore fuel pump issue? and suspension question

Hey guy i am in the middle of buyinhg a vr commodore off a friend and it has a few issues. i was hoping some one might be able to point in the right direction on what to do as we have tried a few things.

    1) when you try to start the car it will crank over a few time then adventually firing and blowing a lot of black smoke(fuel i know). The old fuel pump died so we changed it,BUT this problem be recuring for the last year or so, IT goes away for about 2 days after the fuel filter or pump is changed but then come back.. We have tried changing injectors everything any help would be great. IT also seem to blow alot of smoke under heavy acceleration BUT only over 3200 rpm. ITs also fowling up plugs 5 and 6.

i originally thought maybe the copil pack or CAS are on there way out, but liek i have stated i really dont know what else to do.. the old owner is running a pod atm, which i plan on replacing with a cai setup and K7N panel filter.

dfi board easy to change. if it blows black smoke above 3200 then maybe coolant temp sensor out of whack but not out of ecu range for fault. maybe same with oxygen sensor. who knows, hook it up to a tech1 or something and measure all the voltages everywhere.

its not going to be the fuel filter cos it sounds like its running rich, not lean. A blocked filter would run lean ie no smoke. Try putting a standard air box on if he's still got it.
Possibly the fuel pressure regulator is leaking extra fuel through the vacuum line into the intake ? pull off the vacuum line and check for fuel.
Have you checked for error codes?

i never had a VR but someone on here will tell you how to read error codes on a VR. Its one of the easiest and best tricks you will learn about your car. That's why it has error codes > to tell you whats wrong with it!! Check the how to section as well.

does it have extractors ? if they're cracked and drawing in air then the o2 sensor will go crazy and then cause it to dump in heaps of fuel. happened to a mates vp, blew lots of black smoke

yes pin 5 and 6 it is the same as a VS. just get a fat paper clip or piece of wire about 1 mm thick, bend it in a U shape and poke it in pin 5 and 6 on the top row counting from the left. turn key to on and count the flashes on the dash then post up what they are ..... 22, 47, 48 or whatever.
