Default VS ute and VS sedan diff centres interchangable?

Hey guys, My mates looking at getting a spool but he can't do it on his ute as he has an LSD. I was just wondering if a sedan centre can fit into his utes centre?
    Cheers

Yes its a straight swap as the diffs are the same, just different mounting points for shocks and bumpstops etc. Make sure he keeps the crown wheel and pinion gears as a mated pair (i.e. remove the crown wheel from his lsd centre and fit this to the open centre so the gears remain matched). May also need different shimming to set the correct gear mesh backlash.

sorry bout bringin this back up
i took my standard ute diff and an lsd diff (both matching diff gear numbers 05-75 i tihnk) to a mechanics.
they made me pay $200 to tell me that the centres would not be changable.
    is that correct?

Mate Id contact these mechanics and tell them that you want some sort of refund or you will take it further, then if they wont be reasonable about it, Id be going to consumer affairs or MTA or whoever the governing body is for motor mechanics.Thats bullshit.Theres no way they should have charged you that much just to tell you they dont fit.Maybe charge you $50 -$75 for the trouble,,but not $200.
