I recently picked up a VS Acclaim with an aftermarket alarm system on it, it had been disconnected before I purchased it as the previous owner stated "it was disconnected when my wife had the alcohol interlock system installed because it was interferring".
The box was located in the fuse area on the driver's side, it had a lead disconnected so I reconnected it and the alarm went off, I tried locked and unlocking the car and it didn't turn off.
What could be the issue here?
It's probably got it's own dedicated battery which means you must turn it off either by a secret switch or keypad. Aftermarket immobilisers usually end up creating more dramas than ever, especially if they've been played with. Sometimes it takes forever to completely take the car back to original especially if the alarm installer knew his stuff - they can have hidden wires etc just about anywhere. I've seen kill switches inside seat belt receivers, microswitches inserted in the seat padding so your weight triggers the alarm etc. Sorry I cannot give you a positive lead.

Well there is a pad that was on the dash which has a switch which can go 3 ways and a button, how does this work?
Unless you installed it yourself your proberly never going to figure it out!
I know the way I installed mine it would almost be impossible anless you got a new harness for it and started from scratch!

If you know the correct code to enter (may be 4 or more digits) plus the correct switch position to disengage, it may possibly work.....otherwise forget it as you will never guess the code.

You said you had a pad that was on the dash - many immobilisers have a keypad with numbers but you didn't specify. My best guess is that the pad is one that either requires a swipe with a security tag or a magnet (if it's a cheap model). An autoelec will certainly be able to get it going for you if you are prepared to pay for him to try and figure it out. They charge about $80 per hour so pretty soon you could have a big bill.
Try a GOOGLE search for "fix broken car alarm" - you'll get over half a million suggestions....sort through them to try and identify your model. Good Luck.
