hey guys just wondering if a 1" master cylinder i have in my my workshop out of a VN calais 5LTR go in my VR which has the 15/16 one atm???
Yes with no problems at all. I have a VN spac 1" in my VR for my VT brakes.
It may cause the pedal to be slightly firmer.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
It wont work with the abs if you have it, if you dont have it then not knock yourself out.
ok thanks guys![]()
I'm curious here... My VR currently has ABS and a 15/16 master cylinder. I'm looking at doing the upgrade to VT brakes.
From what I can gather, I'll need to do the following:
1) Replace the disks with DBA040B. That'll give me 296mm discs with the VR/VS hole size.
2) Replace the calipers with VT ones - these should just bolt straight on - no adapters required.
3) ??
To keep ABS working properly, and after upgrading the discs & calipers, what is required to be done with the master cylinder to get these to work properly? Everything seems to point to needing a 1" master cylinder, but I can't seem to find details on this while keeping ABS...
Click my wagon and follow the link in the first post for a few clues on things. But imo i would not even worry about the vr master/booster setup at all if thats what you want. I found it hopeless on the vt brakes. I had it on for about 48hrs and decided the pedal was to dangerouse to drive with, you had nearly double the regular pedal travel. Swapped in the VT-Z master and booster and it was perfect.
From what i've heard the VE brake upgrade is an easier conversion cause the twin caliper pistons are smaller and it will work straight off a vr master booster, but i have had no personal experiance with this. Alot of people also claim the vt brakes work well of the vr boostyer master, but i could not agree less.
Yep, and that bracket is simply the current one off the back of your vr booster now. The pushrod is only a bit to long, when you re-drill the hole for the brake pedal its still on the flattened part of the end of the rod, then you just gotta cut it back a bit with a hacksaw.
