hey, i have just changed my gf's bonnet on her vs, was peeling like crazy, and has fitted great but bonnet wont pop open, i can get a screw driver to prise the spring when closed and then opens, i only need to move spring a little and it pops, does the cable need adusting for the second hand bonnet or is it the spring?? cheers dan.
lube the catch up, adjust cable and she'll be right.
yeah i greased up the catch so im guessing need to make cable tighter, so guessing needs to be tightened from inside the cabbin some how, sure when i look at cabbin in car should see how to tighten??
I'd also unscrew the bonnet spring pin one full turn - this reduces the tension on the spring clip allowing the cable to release the bonnet easier. See pix.

The pin on the bonnet may also have a groove in it try grinding it out or getting a new one may help. Also when the bonnet is popped pull the lever and make sure the spring where the pin goes in cleares the hole completely
