    Default oxygen sensors

My vr has a 4 wire oxygen sensor that I want to replace( code 13 keeps coming up)....Ive looked on ebay and found a couple of 4 wire sensors to fit later models that have a different plug to the one I have....its no dramas fitting my plug IF they will work...any ideas? Also universal 4 wire oxygen with just wire ends ...will they work if I fit my old plug to it?

Yes that's fine, get bosch or delphi if you want it to last.

One pair of wires is the earth and 12v for the heater, the other is the sensor voltage signal and earth.

G'day Bosch recommend not to cut and join wires as they are shielded to give optimum performance mind you i was told this at a bosch school.

i had noticed the shielding on the bosch ones were very good and tuff, also the wire they use you can't solder, so i join mine with twists then heat shrink rated to high temp, but yeh i can see your point. I useually have to cut and do my own as 2 wire bosch ones are hard to find so i get the 4 wire and dont hookup the heater.

Can't say ive had any problems though doing it this way, they last much longer than the cheap ones still.
