I had my vs gearbox built at RVO Automatics in Dandenong. They reckon it'll handle 350hp no problems, and if it breaks in 12 months they rebuild it free. 15 months on and mine hasnt had a problem, even after the flogging I've given it

If you gonna put turbo, my advice would be a high stall converter, after market HD sun shell, set of metal piston with molded seal for the cylinder, 3&4 high temp. friction clucth ( this set of friction is one sided only and no need to put the old friction plate)

I can vouch for the billet servos, had one in my VR shifted SO HARD.
So much more surface area for the auto shift with compared to the corvette servos, don't settle for them get a billet you won't regret it.

edit: hopefully i'll have mine back soon buying back off the guy i sold my vr too

180 sounds like a good price, i bought mine secondhand off my auto mechanic for 150.

not getting the VR back, just the servo out of the trans cos he's converting it to manual.
man the boost you get on shift is awesome lol.

There are two aspects to the 4L60E trans.: the "hard parts", like stronger rotating bits and friction surfaces, and the shift hydraulics. The PCM on the shift side has to be altered too, otherwise it will be trying to "correct" the mechanical changes. You can still have it shift as soft as a standard car at light throttle and shift "hard"/fast at full throttle but it needs to the PCM to be reprogrammed to do it.

thanks cheap 6 i didnt know that, i was wondering to myself if it was always going to shift hard at even light throttle, that cleared that up, so PCM has to be reprogrammed, do they usually do that or is that sumthing i have to do outside of the whole build ?

I've lost the sheet with exactly what they did, but it was a pretty standard rebuild + strengthen from what I gather. I had the full rebuild and shift kit for under $2g, and a hi-stall converter was a couple hundred extra which I wish I had gotten

sorry i took so long to get back to this thread
but i called RVO auto, told him i needed a rebuild for a turbo conversion
he quoted me $2600 for a rebuild with whatever shift kit and said would handle 300kw at the wheels 2 years gurantee ( he said flog it as much as you want lol was the funniest conversation over the fone )
sounds good but the bit were he claims to make all the parts himself got me a bit worried i asked him that i want billet servos his like mate i dont get that sort of stuff i make it myself, he said that there rubbish lol and also that hes developed his own shift kit i think he recommended at stage 3 kit

anyways let me know if its good or not before i go get it tommorrow, im gunna give him a rooted auto that he can rebuild and im gunna pull my one out and sell it

Dave from RVO knows his stuff. What other place backs up their boxes with warranties like that

I've got one of their boxes behind my L67 and it's handled it fine. The only thing I have found with RVO is that the converters they supply tend to be a bit loose/high, but if it's not right they will restall it.
