Default Is this unit A Vacuum master cylinder??

Hi, to the left hand rear of the engine well is a cylindrical unit. It has water hoses from the front pipes near the water pump , a possible aircon pipe connected to the top and other various hoses.

if someone can tell me what its called as I need to replace an elbow on the top water hose, as previous owner had glued it now it has cracked and half the plastic srew is stuck in the hole.

Is it ok disconnect all elbows ect. to pull the whole unit out and attempt to remove the left over threaded elbow piece thats stuck in it

    any advice is appreciated

I managed to unbolt the mi er, I fitted 4 new brass elbows, replaced the brittle vacuum hoses. As with the imbedded plastic elbow I used a sharpened small screwdriver to pick out the remains without damaging the thread. So I guess I got out of jail there.
