Depends on how you use the car and plans for it. If you want a nice daily cruiser, hard to beat the stat'o. They are big, roomy and very comfy but are much heavier and cost a tad more in fuel to run. If you plan on making a decent road worrior kinda thing, find a stock V8 VS and mod to suite ur liking or find a V8 berlina or calais for extra bells and whistles. But if you drop a newer LS series V8 in,you'll get a heap more power yet still use less fuel then a humble 304 V8.
The super 6 and V8 did have similar kw but V8 has more torque, and ive taken on a few un-modified super 6's in my un-modified V8 berlina and i won on every occaision. Never by large margens but i was still happy.

Yeah just looking for like a Sunday car something special. Very tired driving a ssangyong musso all week for work. Love vs commodores but yeah never riden in a supercharged version. Just won't a vs with power and stock so I sort of know not been flogged. Think a v8 would be great but my god hard to find pritty much stock vs v8 including hsv.

I agree. Best bet would be a SS,you can pick them up cheap, they look great and go hard and its pretty easy to bolt on more power and theres a few good tunes for them too. I have a V8 VS berlina and its a real drivers car. The seats are better then standard and it has plenty of cool gadgets and things to play with.Just wish it had a bodykit and sports suspension as standard like the SS.
The V8 is a lot of fun and i dont flog it,all the time. The power to overtake faster and tear up the rears when you see fit. A looked after car will get you decent km's between fuel refills too.

    Smile V8 any day

I prefer the lazy V8. But then again, I am biased

Take it from a previous VS Stato owner get a V8 Statesman forget the (Executive with a body kit) SS, same power with more room and better options for the same price!!!!!

    Weight about 100kg more too.
Exec with a body kit has a little more poke to it. Totally due to the weight.

If you're comparing the two, the 6 is fairly easy to get moving to a certain point (more boost, exhaust, CAI) but the V8 reacts better to mods (i.e boost one of those )

    "there is always another car"

keep that in mind when looking around
