Hey I've put a VR V8 into my VS I have spark and fuel up to the rails but have no injector pulse! Has any one done this, or does anyone know what the issue could be? A friend has suggested it could be the wiring under the dash however when i got the VR all that had been cut!! At the moment the engine loom is plugged into the V6 dash loom.
will be bcm not talking to your new v8 computer. need to get them linked or get the security stuff removed from ur ecu.
As above, the bcm does the security stuff from your key and then talks to the ecu to give the all clear. This will stop the injector pulse because its the imobiliser basically. As above, you will need to have the memcal modded for "no security". Because by the sounds of it you dont have the right bcm for the ecu. If you did you could swap that out. Otherwise the other option is to use a VN/P ECU as i dont think they have all the security stuff. Im pretty sure of this, but plz confirm it first so you dont waste your dollars. Ecu's r pretty cheap on ebay, i got my last one for $30.
With the VR/VS models, as long as the keyhead matches the BCM, the ECU wont stop the car from starting.Theres no "security" link between the ECU and BCM.Only the VT and later models use the security link between the ECU and BCM, and this security link needs to be reset with a Tech2 scantool if the ECU or BCM is changed or renewed. But as I said, the VS and earlier models dont use this setup. The only security on them is between the ignition key and the BCM.And if the BCM gets the proper code from the key,the engine will start.Whereas the VT has to have the proper code from the ignition key,and the proper security link between the ECU and the BCM before the engine will start.
There ya go, i stand corrected.
There is no security unless you use the ECU from a Calais or Statesman as these are coded to the BCM. I have done it and you have to use a VR ECU with a VR BCM and a VS ECU with a VS BCM. Also if you used a VS wiring loom on a VR you have to alter the loom where it plugs in near the battery, the colours don't match just match them up. Also check the ignition module out as it is the trigger for the injector pulse.
