Default VS S/C V6 stopped dead in middle of the road tonight!

My Statesman started to feel like it was losing power on the way to work (Geelong to Melbourne) then got onto highway and dropped into overdrive and started to shudder real bad then 2klm's down the road it stopped dead will turn over but no fire on gas or petrol, any ideas?
    I'm getting a tow soon.

Just did code check and it came up with -
Code 12 - System Pass (OK)
Code 76 - Air/Fuel ratio variation between left and right banks.

But then the low fuel light, temp light and speed alert light started to flash as well but not sure if that's because the battery is low?
Jumped and still just turns over with no fire fuel pump still works i heard it pumping fuel when i turned on ignition.

air fuel variationi think comes from the oxygen sensors(i think you have 2, one for each bank) and that could be do do with the gas if its a mixer setup and possibly not an issue. You'll have to get a tow atm though i would say. Dosnt sound like somthing your gonna fix on the hwy.

This will usually happen when driving if the battery is not charging, or the voltage is too low.

I've got it on charge now so I'll do another code check in an hour or so.

its probably going to be the fact the battery is dead from not being charged i had this happen to me recently.
replaced the brushes in the alternator ($87 from repco) and she is as good as new. jumped the car. drove home the long way to give the battery a nice good charge and havent had a problem since.

Could be your DFI , they tend to die suddenly, but should throw a few more codes. If you pull both leads off one of the coils and crank it is there spark ?

hmm dunno about the DFI's, I think they use the same DFI but i know they use different coils with more powerfull spark.
Try checking for spark as above, if you got no spark your DFI or CAS are prime suspects, supposing they are getting power to them ?

Just changed the DFI and it started straight away, just got me stumped why it wouldn't bring up a code.
Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.
