I have a 1997 VS Esteem - Live Axle rear end. Can some one advise whther this would havea CV jont in the drive shaft.
I'm looking to get rid of a Vibration around 20 km/hr and then another different sort arount the 80-100 km/hr
Have had a reco autofitted and front engine mounts. Getting centre bearing, rear engine mount and front and back unis changed on Thursday.

Yes it does and all VB onwards to VX I think. Its just behind/near the center bearing if I remember. Did it vibrate before the reconditioned auto though? I replaced my cv joint awhile ago because it was clunking every time I put the clutch in (sort of high pitch sound). Grabbed both parts of the tailshaft and could feel and hear the play so I new it was that and not the uni's. I couldn't quite remember if I had a vibration at speed though from it...
I would say check your auto box rubber mount.

CV are on IRS and front wheel dive they come from the box or the centre of the diff....live axle meaning it has axles and tubes...your uni are most likely rooted

There is a CV joint in the tail shaft/propeller shaft on both live and IRS. Not talking about IRS drive shaft CV's here. Ever picked up a tail shaft? How do you think it maneuvers up down left right in the middle?

The rubber mount on the centre bearing can crack and sag, causing a vibration. The rear uni joint can cause a similar vibration.

    Thanksfor your quick reponses.

Noise came on quite a while back when trailing arm bushes and gear box were serviced ( at same time)
I originally thought it was the gear box (auto) as the noise only came in when the torque converter locked up . Auto was rebuilt including torque converter (exchange fitted) and noise remained same. Front engine mounts reduced noise and vibration slightly but essentially remained same. Certainly in same speed range.
I have had centre bearing changed inpast and noticed when the car went back to auto shop to have the modulator? changed for a different type to reduce harhness of gear change that the centre bearing looked a bit softish.
Anyway car goes in tomorrow for transmission mount, centre bearing assembly, both uni joints and now CV change.
IF this doesn't fix it - well lets not think of that hey.
    Cheers
