Default price check-front suspension bushes replacement

my wife's vs series 2 sways to the right when braking. also feels like the wheels are moving forward and back when applying, and releasing, the brake. took in to the mechanic this morning and he pushed the wheel with his foot and the whole wheel moved!!!

he said looks like the front suspension bushes are all stuffed. he's going to look at it and give me a proper assessment.

also the engine belt is coming a little off to the front of the bearing. looks like the tension arm is worn too.

just a price check before he get back to me, and to see if i need to shop around a bit. what's a fare price on doing these jobs (keep them separate please) in melbourne eastern suburb?

for bushes, lets assume $80 an hour labour, probably take about 4 hours to replace all the bushes ( lower control arm inner/radius rod etc )in the front and thats not including the price of the bushes.

For that sort of money you could get on ebay and buy a nolathane kit for your whole car. might take some time to do and you'd need a shop press but easily done. Also, did you think the wheel bearing or lower ball joint may be stuffed?

sorry slayer208, i don't know much about car repairs. and i don't think i have the physique to do it myself, eventhough i am very confortable with light mechanical repairs. i'm a small person (not much muscle) and at 55 i better not trying to injure myself. injuries take years to heal when you're old. already have a bad shoulder
