gday everyone,
Hopefully someone can help me try to work out what wrong with my vr 6 cyc. What it doing atm when you kick the key over to start the engine kicks but will not fire/start the car this is on a cold start. Sent battery flat trying for the last 12 hours trying. The car started fine yesterday etc no problems in running etc that i noticed but today when I went to start it would not start. Steps taken so far.
Have checked all fuses and relays and all are ok.
Battery is only 3 months old so that not the problem.
Checked the plug leads on the back of the spark plug with screwdriver on engine method all leads are firing.
Checked the computer codes the only one I get is the 12 code tell me everything alright lmao which is not the case as the car does not start.
There has been NO work done on the car in the last month eg no dizzy changes or lead changes etc.
Any ideas????
to start with the 6cyl does not have a distributor![]()
Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn to key on to acc power? (dash lights on)
When you turn the ignition on check under the bonnet the fuel line going to the fuel pressure reg should go firm when the pump primes.
Could be a faulty CAS has this ever been replaced that you know of?
Do you have a second key?

do not think it is the key as the the red flash light in the car turns off soon as ya put key in barrel but will gave that a shot. will also check the fuel line
with the buzzing noise will that happen all the time no matter the level of fuel in car as atm the car has a full tank in it???
worth a try,,,

yes will happen every time you turn the key on (unless you turn the key on then off then on again in under a minute lol) no matter what the fuel level.
If you cant hear the buzz from the fuel pump, get a mate to hit the bottom of the tank with a open palm of the hand as you turn the key.
cheers will gave that a go and see how we go now
just a quick update thanks bandit for ya input was a fuel pump problem the connection on the fuel pump in tank was stuffed so while i had it out changing the plug also did the fuel pump and as the fuel filter while the car was jacked up and fixed the problem cheers again bandit for ya help
step 1: tell any mechanic you wont pay a cent for any part until its in and the cars fixed
i had the same problem with my 5litre, after changing fuel pump, relays, control module, fuel reg and checking for spark i took it to a mechanic overnight who insisted it was the control module, when i told him it wasnt he was happy to inform me he'd got one on exchange for mine.
of course it didn't fix it but mine was gone so i couldn't prove it was good.
he went ahead and changed the coil too cos he thought he hadn't bent me over far enough
after $960 they figured out it was the module on the side of the dizzy.
no use to you as you don't have one but don't get ****ed over
