This is the 2nd time this has happend to my vs in a matter of months, auto transmisson sliping, first fix was to remove the pan and in doing that, i found the filter to be sitting in the bottom of the pan and not in the valvebody where it should be, fix: new filter and pan gasket.
now it has done it again,
Yesterday i removed the pan and bingo, the filter had fallen out of the valve body, Fix: new filter and pan gasket, but this time i have used cable ties to secure the filter in place.
Now i beleave that having lowerd springs and shocks to give it a more stiffer ride is to blame,
What would be your opinion on that
haha as a mechanic i should have thort about that,
normally they sit on the pan and cant fall out probably dropped out when you pulled it off which shouldnt really happen either .is the rubber seal on the filter round the right way its made to hold one way round the other way it will not

it has the deeper pan fitted to the trans, and yes the seal is fitted correctly, last time it happend the boys and i made sure the filter was fitted up all snug, but for some weird ass reason it has fallen out again, not to worry its all sorted out now, untill the next time lol
does the deep pan have a different filter if its not sitting on the bottom it will fall out

yea they do have a different filter but the filter dosnt quite sit on the bottom and is enuff for the valve body to suck air causing the trans to slip and have no drive
Check the hole the filter slides into - it's possible one or more of the sealing "O" rings from previous filter changes are stuck up there and preventing the filter neck seating properly. First one I changed was actually stuck to the tube hole as though it had melted on.

I agree with hako,Id check the hole where the filter seal goes in.There might be an old seal still in there.Ive serviced a few of these transmissions, and the filter seal can be a prick to remove.I just collapse the metal part of the seal inwards with a screwdriver to remove it.This might also explain why the trans has been slipping and sucking air.Ive never seen the filter sit right on the bottom of the pan,it sits close to the bottom, but not on it.If it did, this would stop or at least hinder the trans fluid flow into the filter as the filter inlet is on the underside of the filter.
