Just wondering if you would be able to help with this question?
I have a VS Series II Berlina, six cylinder auto, which seems to be having some issues with the gearbox.
I just wanted some advice before I took it anywhere and they tried to tell me that it was something that it possibly wasn't or try to score some more money!
When you first turn the car on and place it into gear, it doesn't seem to want to go anywhere. If you place your foot on the accelerator sometimes it will move very slowly and rev really high or other times it just won't go anywhere, like you have put it into neutral. Sometimes when it revs really high, the engine light will come on. If I turn it off and wait a few minutes, the light goes away. It still has trouble moving though. After you get it going the first time, it revs really high before it is forced to change gears. After the car has been driven for maybe 10 minutes, with a lot of trouble, it runs fine, like it never had any issues to begin with. It's like it only has issues when it first begins driving and it just seems to be getting worse each day.
The transmission fluid levels are all checked and fine.
Any ideas?
Welcome to the forum.
First thing to do is checkk for any error codes the transmission may have left which will give you some clues: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
Also how many kms on the car and how many Kms since the tranny was serviced?

If the oil level is OK and the colour is pink, that would be a positive sign, but if the oil is brown or bubbly then that would not sound good.
It may also be running in "Limp Home Mode" which is a kind of emergency way for the transmission to behave when something has gone wrong with the transmission - in this mode it will only drive in 3rd gear or reverse with other gears being manually selectable. Usually when they go into LHM, it is terminal, although I've had it twice - first time it was terminal and cost $2000, second time it was just a shift solenoid and cost $200.
So I hope it all goes well.

Just service the trans and put some trans oil additive like nulon and hope for the best, cause the problem with your trans is piston seal inside the cylinder, when the car gets older the seal inside becomes worn and stiff, so when its still cold it cannot built enough pressure to push the friction clucth to engage, cause the seal are hard and stiff its leaking, only when it warm up enough then it expand and back to normal again.. This trans additive doesnt work overnight, maybe after 3 days or a week you will notice. if nothing happen then its time for a rebuilt...
