I need to replace the leads on my VR v6, it is a bit worked with a big cam, ported and polished heads etc, Im not sure what brand is the better and what size should I go for 8mm, 8.8mm?
Any suggestions would be great![]()
Unless you are running forced induction or really stupid high compression, a lead is a lead. Doesn't matter what you use.
As above, stock leads would be fine.
I alway use genuine Holden. Not much dearer than aftermarket and come with new metal ends.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
Thanks for that, was thinking of going for a set of TopGun 8mm leads with the heat sheilds, around $85 from local Autopro.
As every one has said don't bother. No difference on a stock car.
I've always used Bosch performance leads and have found them to be reliable. Also, I think there may be a little to gain by using performance plugs such as Bosch super 4's. Maybe those iridium type might be okay. I know they're much longer lasting than standard ones.
Yeah mate stock leads are fine, don't forget to change your plugs though
Don't bother with Magnecor either, they are supposed to be good for hi temperature, but i managed to melt the boots on track day.
Genuine are good leads mate, and the heat sheilds actually fit properly so they last for ages.
Cheers for that, I got some TopGun 8mm leads with new heat shields as well, the old ones didn't have heat shields on them at all,
seems to have made a difference its idling a bit smoother, plugs where changed not long ago ( 1 month ) so left them in.
Still need to look at the oxygen sensor yet.
i am using top gun ones to
i have top gun 10mm leads and they work a beauty around 120$ and they just give really good throttle response and somewhat better fuel economy
