    Default Towing Horse Float

A mate of mine is selling his VR 5.0L ute and I'm wondering if this would be able to handle a horse float - of course with the right tow pack installed - my concern is more about the chasis.

Some people have told me that Ute's are no good for towing horse floats cause there is no weight in the back of them??

Whats the GVM of the horse float? Would recommend a bighorn/prado size wagon for a twin axle float, especially if they are big horses.

The sedan can tow up to 2100KG with the right equipment so I'd imagine the ute would be similar.

I would not tow a float with VR ute, even a V8 one.

Firstly the body of the tow vehicle is too light (esp the rear) and risks being pushed around by the float. (You may want to check with the states road authority regarding towing)

Secondly, Commodore autos hate heat. The best way to heat an auto is to tow something heavy. The lockup clutch in the torque converter is the not all that robust and can slip under load.

I can vouch for both parts, a heavy trailer and ute dont mix and the auto trans even with the cooler still cook easily.
