Default Vs ute no spark to cylinder 2 and 5

hey all i have a 1995 VS ute, one day was driving it and it suddenly lost power but was still running, just like crap. nearly got home and it ran normally again, then when i got home it done the same thing and has ever since. we found it wasnt sending sparks to cylinder 2 and 5, so we tried changing all the leads and swapping them on different coils, swapping them on different spark plugs and everything its not fuel we changed and looked at everything to do with that. we have had 2 other coils on there but they both didnt work either. we tried the error code and all that would come up is 12 that means it should be ok. we checked the wires going into the plug that plugs into the coilpack but not inside the actual plug so i dont exactly know if it could be the wires but i would think it wouldnt be more than one and if it wasnt then one of the cylinders should still spark right? anyone have any ideas or similair problems? cheers.

sounds like the dfi module is stuffed. its the thin flat thing that sits under all the coil packs. also these setups have a wasted spark setup, which means the opposite plug acts like an earth for the other one if that makes sence

Yes,if the one coil stops working,it will effect both cylinders that run from that coil, like both cylinders 5 and 2 are from the same coil and are both not firing. You say you have tried different coils in the faulty ones position, and there was no difference. As moff said above, its most likely to be a faulty DFI (Direct Fire Injection)module that the 3 coils sit on.Id also check the wiring connector that goes to the DFI module, check the pins inside it for corrosion, the connector has a small bolt that has to be undone before you can unplug it.Ive seen corrosion in this wiring connector cause misfiring before.
