I had the same problem a few months ago - had the VS for 7 years and daughter needs a reliable car so she uses it now - anyway, I looked at VX's and VY11's, even a VZ but the problem was they all had the same feel and internal appearance and whilst some went smoother or faster, they all were more or less the same as my VS. So, I jumped ship - shopped around for a month and found a car that didn't feel like a Holden - a bright red TL Magna that is totally different mechanically and handles much better. I still love Commodores, and I must say I think they are better built, more economical, more reliable and less complicated than the Magna......but I've been there.
The thing you've got to remember is that you're only on this planet for a certain (unknown) time.....if you love cars you must sample as many as you can while you can. I want to squeeze another Jag, maybe a Merc and certainly another '49 Ford Custom in before I kick the bucket. Good Luck.
