    Default 5.0 litre rebuild

    any ideas on the price of a stock rebuild for a vs clubby? inc labour etc

    My VR 5L the previous owner had the top and bottom totally rebuilt (well including a cam) cost him $7k. I doubt it would cost that much if you rang around though.

    well i think it does coz its done 270 000 kms and the head gaskets need to be done anyways i just wanna do a stock rebuild no bigger cams or anything

    What has caused the head gaskits to blow? As for a complete rebuild it's a matter of how far you want to go. Just to tart up the heads whilst you are doing the head gaskits + a new timing chain and cam + balancer etc could be around $2k (Inc labour) or to go the full monty will be really as much as you want to pay. Just because the motor has done 270,000k does not mean a rebuild in itself - It's also a matter of how well it was serviced and treated during it's life.
