I know of a certain car that had a welded diff, which snapped an axle, managed to get wheelspin in all 5 gears, without any movement from the steering wheel to keep the car straight.....If i hadn't seen it with my own eyes, i probably would have agreed with whathisface that you'd end up in a wall if such a thing happened.

So i obviously dont know anything, because I drive execs.

I work on heavy passenger service vehicles all day, but I apparently know nothing about road safety because my commodores are only execs.

    What a tool.

Both have passed WOF inspections within the last month, and neither have had any illegal modifications done. I also keep a close eye on tire wear.

So yeah, my cars are 100% legal.

Like i said, if i hadn't seen it with my own eyes, i wouldn't have believed it. I never do drugs, i dont even drink, so you can be certain it definitely happened. Keep in mind this wasn't a top fuel dragster with sticky types, just a padock basher VL.

I never do burnouts in residential area's (which is why that news story posted by that moron before was laughable, the diff had nothing to do with the crash.......####head driver with an LSD is still a ####head driver)

Why, because you dont believe both my cars are legal?

What reason do you have to believe they are not legal? They both have current WOF, good tires and have not been modified illegally.

    Wrong attitude man.

The fact that this thread seems to be about 'an LSD being less dangerous in the wet than a spool' is ####in rediculous, and you obviously shouldnt be fitting either.
Where did I say its ok if only 1 or 2 people die from it? My point was that there are more cars with the problems i mentioned above that would be counted a shitload more dangerous on the roads then a spool would....

But after a search last night on other forums it seems you guys are in your own world with loving spools for the street. I'll leave my comments here and you can go on defending your spools.

    1. I never said im a an epic driver, I said people who dont have common sense are the one's that end up in trouble.
    2. Im not denying that you cant go into a wall, I'm saying your little example above is unrealistic. Seriously, how long does it take the human brain to process "oh #### i have lost traction, better get off the gas"? a second or two? now you tell me what car can reach speeds of 100mph within that 2 seconds? sure the wheel speeds could be 100mph but the actual speed the car is traveling would be nothing like that.
ANDDDDDD if someone didn't process they had lost or snapped an axle and continued to keep there foot to the floor, then they deserve what they get

where do you get your WOF's done? i only ask because there are very few places that do a proper inspection. to me it is more of a money making enterprise. i.e do it at a tyre shop and they are likely to fail your tires to get work, body shop will find any rust and fail you etc.

both my VN and missus VS passed there last WOF inspections at a proper VTNZ testing station. go figure

here in NZ a full exhaust system is legal as we don't have the same EPA standards. it's only noise that is of major concern

Nope, I didn't say you are more likely to snap an axle during a straight launch because of a spool. The only issue is if you do break one.

Accelerating hard during a corner with a spool it is a different story. Then you have a greater risk of weakening / snapping an axle. Also you would need decent power and decent tyres for this to become a problem.

The problem is everyone that fits a spool to a heap of shit VN street car IS driving like a tool.
Stealthy reckons he doesn't but then I get the distinct impression Stealthy thinks he's gods gift to driving, so anything he says is redundant as far as I'm concerned.

Millions of drivers manage to get home safely with single spinner diffs everyday and yet SOMEHOW Spools are a better idea.

As I said, there is only one reason you would want one. Everything else that has been stated is a bad excuse for having them. Let go of yourselves boys, it'll turn blue and fall off.

That's what I was told, and I can tell it was purchased off an old guy because it was well looked after and still in original condition apart from the modifications.

It was modified for the same reason anyone modifies their Holden, they want it to look, sound and perform the way they want it to, the person I purchased it off modified it, anyone more questions Führer?

Theres 1000s of people who have spools and dont seem to plow into other peoples cars. Likewise theres 1000s of ####sticks with open wheels and LSDs who DO crash. Pointless argument.

I'm not gods gift to driving, i just dont drive outside my limits, or my cars limits, which is the reason my car has lasted so long without being smashed......and is the key mistake people like in that news article make.
