Ok guys, Im on my 3rd strut mount in 12 months.
Its only the LH side that fails, the 1st and 3rd ones have been OEM, the 2nd was a nolathane?, the 1st 2 were new the last one 2nd hand all last the same time.
The front spring are same height but stiffer, shock are plain Monro gas. Its just me 90% of the time, Im not a kerb or gutter basher, It does do some off road work every weekend but only approx 5 clicks.
Just cant under stand why only the LH side.
Any ideas???
Tks.
try replacing the whole top bit that goes on to the car. maybe its worn out never heard of doing so many bushes in so little time.

Ok Just replace the faulty LH mount...........
I have to admit that I stuffed up on this one.....The concave washer that goes on first before the top mount was sitting inside the boot at the bottom of the strut..Thought it was a bit strange for the strut shaft to come through with out taking a big chunk out of the mount as the hole was the size of the strut shaft...
The other 2 failed as the washer came through the whole mount...
Its the simple things that get you....
Hi Guys, Its back, the strut problem..#4 mount has failed. The washer isnt the problem like I reported. The strut hasnt punched it way throught the bonnet like before, because it has the washer.
The bush has come apart from the rubber moulding...
The Rh side is still the original one. The tops have been changed over, the strut turn smoothly on its shaft, the strut also compresses smoothly..
Any one with some more Ideas?? please..
Even the suspention guys have never heard of this. They also know how I drive. so thats not the problem..
take a read of what bretjjj wrote,,may apply to yourself....good luck Strut mount bushes & Strut replacement question
We ALL HAVE 1 THING IN COMMON:THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF GRIP
The springs, shocks and top bearings were replaced the 1st time the bush failed. When the 2nd one failed on the LH s I fitted Nolathane on both sides. The LH failed quicker than the OEM rubber mount. So Ive been using OEM since.
Have, Thanks.
What is wrong with ppl. I asked for OEM top mount to be ordered, after 2 days was told they can only get Nolathane, which I dont want, when asked what was wrong with getting OEM " they are more exspensive than After market", arent They?" GGRRR....So I went back to my suspention guy and got him to get them.another 2 days waiting....What the point of spelling it out then do the totaly opposite...
My little rant, as running the 4x4 is costing me.
nolathane doesnt make for very good strut tops . pm me your addy and i will send you up some good spares. check to see if the strut itself is bent or the radius rod . If you have had a nice hard contact on that side at any stage that would say sumthing else is causing it to fail
The saga continues..The local suspention guy rings me up to tell me he didnt order the OEM mount because he found a Nolathane one............................................... .........
mummmbbble muuummmbbbllle...I took it anyway as I need the car for the weekend.....
I guess You will hear from in 3 months when this one fails..
