Might sound a bit stupid but can someone explain to me how a short shifter works? and should i get one?

Its all to do with mechanical advantage and leverage points. Works essentially the same as standard, just requiring far less travel of the shifter itself. I've got one with my getrag box and love it. So much less shifter travel and each gear is far more positive and tight. I dont look back on putting one in mine, though they are quite expensive. No extra wear on synchro's. I've got the billet products version in mine which has adjustable positive stops to prevent over-shifting and hence avoid synchro damage.
i have a t5, a pic would be good mate![]()
