imobiliser wont go off

Hi everyone,i just bought a VR ss 5ltr, got it home and now i cant turn off the imobiliser so i can start the car and get a new key programmed.
The car came with a broken key head,it had the main circuit board that disarmed the imobiliser,but now it seems to have stopped working.
I tried leaving the ignition onn for 40 minutes as what the owners manual sais, but it wont go off.
Do i have the key turned to just the acessories positon or up to when all the warning lights come on and then leave it for 40 min ?
I really need to be able to start it so i can take it to get a few things fixed for a RWC..

key on with the "reds" as some call it or with all the dash lights on etc. the other thing is if you can get the remote working enough for the central locking to work this will disable the immobiliser

thanks moff_man...,got it started and went and got a new key programmed...
now for the rest of the fix ups...
